Developer Shed, a network of 20 high-technology discussion websites, recently acquired by Jim Boykin, CEO of Internet Marketing Ninjas, is excited to welcome SEO Chat founder, Darrin Ward, back to the SEO Chat Community, and to other Development Shed communities as forum administrator. Since being founded in 2002, SEO Chat has amassed approximately 250,000 members and nearly 1 million posts to date.
A few years after founding SEO Chat, Ward sold the venture and other tools to Developer Shed, which was later sold to Ziff Davis Enterprise, and just a few weeks ago, on May 18th, 2012, Jim Boykin, CEO of Internet Marketing Ninjas, purchased all the Developer Shed assets from Ziff Davis, including SEO Chat.
The connection between Ward and Boykin has been longstanding; Ward was the founder and first member of SEO Chat, followed shortly thereafter, Boykin, the second SEO Chat member. “One of my first calls when it looked like I’d get Developer Shed was to Darrin Ward,†said Boykin. According to Ward, the excitement is mutual. “Once I heard Jim was getting his hands on the forum, I knew I wanted to be involved again,†he said.
With his knowledge and experience, bringing Ward back seemed the next logical step in Boykin’s mission to bring back prior members and to build up more new members to the Developer Shed discussion forums. “Bringing back the founder of SEO Chat, I think, was a great step in showing the community that we’re really seeking to get back to the roots of what this community has been known for in the past and we’re going to bring that magic back with Darrin’s help, with the help of the communities themselves, and with lots of other former contributors who are coming back as well,†said Boykin; “it’s amazing what a community can do together when it’s run for the community.â€
Ward’s extensive experience with both community forums and SEO make bringing him back as forum administrator a major part of maintaining and improving the sites for the users.
