UppSite Raises $2.1 million for Turning Websites into Apps

Israel-based UppSite which turns websites into mobile apps has raised $2.1m in seed funding. The money comes from TheTime startup incubator and Matomy Media Group which are both owned by the chairman of McCann Erickson Israel, Ilan Shiloach, according to Globes.

Uppsite CEO Gal Brill founded the company in 2010. It allows websites and bloggers on WordPress, Blogger and Tumbler to quickly and automatically convert their sites to mobile applications. Matomy CEO Ofer Druker added, “Our investment in Uppsite is part of our mobile advertising strategy. As we see the rapidly growing demand for mobile advertising, and with mobile ad spend expected to show 950% growth by 2015, we are looking for innovative and effective solutions to meet this market need. We identified Uppsite as a leading platform that provides a smart and quick solution for monetization of mobile traffic assets for our media partners as well as increases the reach and opportunities for app distribution for our mobile advertisers.”

According to Mr. Brill part of the money will enable the company to establish an office in Silicon Valley. Globes reports UppSite has raised a total of $2.7 million to date.
